New App Bridges Communication for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Hearing Callers

ZVRS and Purple Communications releases sivo®, a revolutionary, new app which enables a three-way video connection between Deaf and hard of hearing individuals, sign language interpreters, and hearing individuals–all on the same phone call.

“The communication access with sivo® is unparalleled,” said Sherri Turpin, CEO of ZVRS and Purple Communications. “sivo® works at home, at work, and on the go. It’s past time for us to bridge and break down all barriers for the Deaf, for the hearing, and for the interpreter.”

The sivo® application works by featuring videos of all three parties, so that Deaf consumers can converse directly with hearing people and view the sign language interpreter on the same call. In the past, Deaf consumers could only view the sign language interpreter and hearing callers could only listen in via phone. With a simple download at sivo.me, sivo® brings everyone together at once, for face-to-face, accessible communication access.

With sivo®, personal and professional connections are happening in a way that has never been accessed before, especially in the workplace. In the past, interpreter services in the workplace had to be arranged with local interpreting services or via Video Remote Interpreting. Today, impromptu meetings are now accessible via sivo® with instant access to interpreting services. Deaf and hearing colleagues can now converse on a platform that provides equal access and levels the playing field in the workplace.

I applaud ZVRS and Purple Communications for their mobile app release of sivo®. Technology is advancing and it’s imperative people with disabilities are not left behind. This app proves what we know – inclusion drives innovation.

For years, Warren “Wawa” Snipe, an actor featured in season two of Black Lightning, called one of his best friends through the phone using Video Relay Services. Once his friend downloaded sivo®, the app changed the way Warren connected with his friend.

“To be able to see your best friend and the interpreter on the phone–AND the fact that my friend can see me, too, is mind-boggling,” says Warren.

Warren says sivo® is especially a game changer for his professional life because he can now see both the interpreter and business callers at the same time. “Not having to see just the interpreter throughout the entire conversation is freeing–conversations happen even more naturally now.”

With Covid-19 at the forefront, virtual access is even more important today. For Deaf and hard of hearing consumers, sivo® brings communication access to a whole new level, especially at work. With a simple phone call through the app, you can connect visually and virtually–anywhere and anytime.

Download sivo on your iOS, Android, Mac, Windows device and see for yourself. Get connected today.
