ZP Better Together – The FCC

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) provides funding for video relay service from the Telecommunications Relay Service Fund administered by Rolka Loube.  CSDVRS, LLC, d/b/a ZVRS and Purple Communications, Inc. (divisions of ZP Better Together, LLC. hereinafter referred as “ZP”) is conditionally certified by the FCC to provide video relay services. In order to receive and maintain certification, ZP complies with various FCC rules and guidelines.

 

User Registration Database (URD)

User Registration Database (“URD”) is a centralized database designed to ensure that VRS is only used by eligible users. VRS providers, including ZP, are required to collect the certain information from their customers for verification before registering with the URD. The required information are:

  1. Full name
  2. Full residential address
  3. Existing videophone number
  4. Last four digits of the SSN
  5. Date of birth

For verification purpose, ZP requires you, as a customer, to provide a copy of identification such as driver’s license or state ID when registering for service.  It is very important you provide this information in a timely and accurate manner. Failure to provide this information could result in you not being eligible to place and receive VRS calls.

ZP is committed to ensuring your personal information is protected and held in a confidential manner. ZP will be required to share your personal information with the administrator of the User Registration Database but will not be using this information for any reason other than to validate your identity and residency.

Our goal is to make this process as painless as possible for you and we greatly appreciate your support with this effort. Once we have validated your identity and residency, you should not be asked by us to validate it again.

Toll-Free (800) Number Information

A toll-free number has the prefix 800, 855, 866, 877 and 888 as the first three numbers of a phone number.

If you need a toll-free number, you can get one for your videophone.

There are several steps to get a toll-free number:

  • You need to find a toll-free provider. A provider is a company that gives you a toll-free number for you to use.
  • There are many providers who can get you a toll-free number. The following link gives you a list of 800 number providers. (link to 800 number providers)
  • After you reach that page, click on another link which says “Complete list of Toll-Free service providers associated with SMS/800” for a listing of 800 number providers.
  • Toll-free numbers are not free. The cost can vary between $5-$10 a month, depending on the provider you choose.
  • You will need to give your ZVRS or Purple videophone number (LN-local number) to the toll-free service provider. Any calls placed to your toll-free number will be forwarded to the ZVRS or Purple videophone number you provide.
  • You will need to contact ZVRS or Purple Customer Experience Team (CET) to ensure ZVRS or Purple links your toll-free number to your ZVRS or Purple videophone number. Failure to do so could result in your inability to receive point-to-point calls placed to your videophone by individuals using your toll-free number.

After the numbers are linked, then the people who call you can use the toll-free number to contact you on your videophone.
