FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. What about confidentiality of relay calls? How will ZP know if interpreters are abiding to the confidentiality rule in the program?

The program approved by the FCC requires strict confidentiality for ALL relay calls. It will NOT share a customer’s privacy. All at-home workstations are inspected first before the Video Interpreters (VIs) handle VRS calls to make sure the room is securely locked with doors, have monitoring technology installed and is equipped with robust network technology.

Participation in the at-home VRS call handling program will NOT affect the high quality standards customers currently experience with ZP.

Handling VRS calls from at-home workstations offers several benefits, including:

  • Flexible work schedule;
  • Allows at-home Vis to work on the time saved from commute as a VRS VI or community interpreter;
  • Protecting the safety of VIs by eliminating the need to travel during late-night hours; and
  • Improving call waiting time by allowing Vis to work from home instead of from call centers during times of inclement weather, civic emergencies, network outages, or other unforeseen circumstances.

At-home workstations aim to improve, rather than replace, the functions performed at call centers.

ZP is proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to hiring a diverse and inclusive workforce. ZP provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and employment applicants without regard to unlawful considerations of sex, sexual orientation, gender (including gender identity and/or expression), pregnancy, race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin, citizenship status, religion or similar philosophical beliefs, disability, marital and civil union status, age, genetic information, veteran status or any personal attribute or characteristic that is protected by applicable local, state or federal laws.
